Personal Development | Stop Being Realistic | Note 466
Do you want a mediocre or above average and extraordinary life?
Will Smith once said, ‘Being realistic is the most common road to mediocrity.’
You’re able to see things as they really are and deal with them practically when you have a realistic attitude. You try to be practical about your chances of success. Realistic thinking increases hopefulness but also decreases negative coping skills.
Sure, having realistic expectations could make you feel more secure, but being unrealistic and believing anything is possible is usually how the most successful people in history have achieved the extraordinary.
Think about Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Walt Disney, Jeff Bezos, and George Lucas, to name a few. There’s nothing mediocre about any of them. They all lived above average and extraordinary life. And it is safe to say they all were the opposite of being realistic with their dreams, hopes, and visions.
It’s your decision, but if you’re looking to live an extraordinary life, perhaps it’s time to stop being realistic.
