Don’t Go through Life Pretending | Note 152
Pursue what you want.
I love expensive cars like the Ferrari Portofino. I enjoy being in a room with successful people. I prefer quality, not quantity. I prefer well constructed clothing over fast fashion. I know little about interior design and architecture, but I know my dream home has floor to ceiling windows with a view of the ocean plus an insane infinity pool. I love a good hotel resort or a great luxury boutique hotel. I love traveling the world in pursuit of rooftop bars and infinity pools high in the sky. I like nice sh*t.
Give me a few close friends, a great product to sell with minimalist branding that people will love, an exotic car, an insane home, increase my net worth into the multi 7-figure arena, and I’m good.
For a few years, I pretended to be okay with not having some things I wanted, but I was only fooling myself. Sure, I’ve accomplished a lot, been around the world, and seen things most can only dream of. I’m grateful. However, I still want things. I still have things to experience. I still have places I want to go to.
Here’s the thing, wanting what others may perceive to be material things and having expensive stuff doesn’t make you better than anyone else. It also doesn’t make you less than anyone else either. I was only fooling myself, pretending I didn’t have to have the things I wanted. Well, I don’t have to have them, but I want them, and that’s what matters.
Today’s Note: Don’t Go through Life Pretending
If you want something and others think it’s over the top, so what. It’s what you want.
There is nothing wrong with pursuing what you want. If you act like you don’t want it, you’ll never get it.
If you want to do something, decide to do it.
Figure out a way. Your actions will show you everything about what you want. If you want to be happy, go after the things you want. Don’t go through life pretending.
