You Can Let Go | Note 102

Coming up with reasons to let go isn’t hard.

Over the weekend, I had a discovery call with a strategist to discuss the next steps for the Sincerely HER Instagram account. Two hours into the call, the strategist said, I’m going to be honest with you and tell you something you don’t want to hear.

I immediately perked up and sat impatiently, waiting to hear what he had to say on our never-ending Zoom call. He said forget about that account and focus on your personal account.

In one sentence, he slashed my hopes, my dreams, but not my confidence. He also said he thought I was boring when we first started talking but found interest as I opened up and shared more stories about my life and experience. He concluded that I could best serve everyone, including myself, by sharing my knowledge and building a strong personal brand.

That night, I tossed and turned as I thought about what he said. I woke up the next morning, and my first thought was he has a point. I want people to like, know, and trust me, so I am going to be more personal. And it’s okay to let go of my plans because I’m putting together a better plan.

Today’s Note: You Can Let Go

Feeling like you should let go isn’t hard.
Telling yourself to let go isn’t hard.
Coming up with reasons to let go isn’t hard.
Finding someone to agree with you and reaffirm your decision to let go isn’t hard.

The hard part is breaking the attachment to whatever you are trying to let go because it’s become part of who you are. It can even become your identity.

The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to let go.

Decide today to let go.
Give yourself permission to let go.
Take action and let go.
It’s okay.

You can let go.
