In a Funk! | Self-Help | Note 517
Are you open-minded about how you really feel?
For the last week or so, I’ve felt very blah. Yes, me — the Queen of Bite-Sized Motivation. I continue to show up and do my best to be present. But, to be truthful, I’m at a loss.
I am at a loss for words. I’m at a loss of energy. I’m just not into it, whatever “it” is.
I’m not unmotivated, but I have that gnawing feeling. The feeling that I need to break free. The problem is, break free from what?
My life is pretty basic right now. In fact, I think that may be the problem.
Long-time listeners know I’ve been through a lot over the past eight months dealing with some life-altering neurological issues.
Right now, I feel very ordinary after living an extraordinary life.
I don’t do ordinary well. I am not fond of routine. But I find myself falling into a routine of unexciting boredom. Yikes.
I’ve not been in this position often, but the few times I have been here, the first thing I do is tell myself it’s okay. And that’s usually followed by something drastic.
You see, I believe you have to shake things up in order to snap out of whatever “it” is.
Accept where you are. Work on changing your current trajectory. Meditate, practice mindfulness, try something new, or talk to someone. Go on an adventure, take a staycation or a vacation, but whatever you do, embrace the fact that things will get better.
You won’t always feel blah. Feeling blah from time to time is a normal part of life. It’s natural.
If you suspect you’re dealing with anxiety or depression, please seek professional help.
It’s not okay to stay in a funk, but it is okay every once in a while to be in a funk.
