Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: The Best Thing That Never Happened | Motivational Quote | Note 518
Do you ever look back with gratitude at the things that didn’t go quite according to plan?
When I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment, I took every opportunity to hang out on the backlot where they filmed movies, TV shows, and commercials. I always volunteered to hand deliver contracts and anything else I could think of to be where all the action was.
I loved the energy of the backlot, and occasionally, I would drop in to see films like Spider-Man or TV series like The Wheel of Fortune shot.
I often visited the sound stages, studio store, movie theater, and print shop. Every chance I got to leave what we called the “pyramid” building and cross the street to step onto the lot, I did.
One such day, I was on the lot walking down the hall, and I saw a tall, tanned, hunky fellow. As I got closer, all I could say was damn. That’s a good-looking man. Then he spoke to me. I smiled, and it clicked. Holly crap! It’s The Rock.
Damn. I could smell (and see) what The Rock was cooking up close and personal.
Yesterday, I talked about being in a funk. That day, I was also in a funk.
I needed a change. It was time to move on from Sony Pictures.
Working there was becoming ordinary, and like I said yesterday, I’m all for living an extraordinary life.
Shortly after, I briefly came face-to-face with The Rock, I left Sony. I was working in Home Entertainment but was constantly getting that gnawing feeling that the world had something better for me — something extraordinary.
Sure, it’s not every day that you see The Rock walking the hallways at your job, but for me, I knew there was more waiting for me. I also know that sometimes you are forced to pivot even when you are sure that you really want something and that something keeps eluding you.
On today’s episode of the Sincerely HER Podcast, I did something I’ve never done before. I played a clip that I stumbled upon from, you guessed it, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. You can listen to it by clicking below.
And to echo what Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said, you got to have faith that the one thing you wanted to happen, often is the best thing that never happened.”
