Personal Development | The Wrong People Have Influence Over You

Personal Development | The Wrong People Have Influence Over You | Note 287

I learned some people are simply energy vultures.

From an early age, I was careful about who I was close with. Don’t get me wrong. I’m friendly. I love talking. I don’t have a problem meeting strangers, but I’m always secretly side-eying people. Always have, always will.

I understood as early as elementary that some people don’t mean you any good. I also learned some people are simply energy vultures. I didn’t have a name for it back then, but I’ve always been intuitive and good spot an energy vultures.

You know those people that you want to help, but they can’t seem to get out of their own way. You know that friend that knows you need to be at work at 7 AM but tries to convince you to go clubbing the night before. They aren’t bad people. They’re just not the kind of people you should let have any influence over you. And yes, I said let. Why? Because you control who you let influence you.

By definition, we define the word influence as the capacity to affect the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.

If you have friends, family, co-workers, following folks on social media, or are listening to the so-called gurus that aren’t inspiring you to be the best you possible, the wrong people have influence over you.
